Samson Siasia's U-11 Boys Win Concorde Challenge Cup

 

Winners Coached By 1994 World Cup Player, Gaining Recognition For Youth Player Development

 

ALPHARETTA, GA – February 23, 2003 – Samson Siasia, Atlanta&339;s most experienced player-coach with the fastest rising youth team, announces that the Under-11 (U11) age group boys won the Concorde Cup, a prestigious Atlanta area tournament. The first team, Stars Orange “A,” won in the “Black” division, winning three consecutive games to take the title over the Athens YMCA Express - on points. Samson’s U11 boys won the tournament by defeating the Excel Golden Knights 6-0, the Alpharetta Ambush 3-0, and the AUSA Freedom Silver 1-0.

 

Winning is great, but playing well is the goal,” said the champion’s head coach, Samson Siasia, who added “Oh yea baby” while presenting trophies to each team member. Samson played for the fifth ranked team in the World, Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the 1994 World Cup held in the United States.

 

Individuals interested in try-outs for next year’s team at Under-12, should contact Samson – while observing the rules for player recruitment. Samson also coaches an Under-14 team, previously coached by Ignace “Iggy” Moleka and an Under-16 team, which is off-season as they compete at the high school level. All teams offer a chance to try-out for next Fall at U12, U15, and U17.
